FINAL RUNNER INFORMATION

Redwood Anvil Trail Runs, Oakland, CA, July 26, 2015

Our Story

The Redwood Anvil course was a “race” from the start. Back in August 2014, Eric Wilson and Jeff Lang met up for a training run. As busy dads these trainers are tough and competitive to make the most of limited time. We also feast off of friendlies! Following our fitness and sense of adventure that afternoon, our route led over some of our favorite trails in Redwood Regional Park — Bridle, Chown, French, West Ridge, Tres Sendas, East Ridge, and Canyon. It was a good, challenging mix of pressing climbs, runnable rollers, and screaming descents. When we finished back where we started, it was cool to see 10 miles on the Garmin and the odd “anvil-like” shape of the loop on Strava.

In the weeks that followed we shared this new 10 miler with David La Duc and Lance Fong, running it many times over with a growing spirit of competition within the team. PRs were dropped and we dropped each other. Some got busted, and some got payback on better days. One even compromised his 100 mile PR for an Anvil CR less than a week prior to his race. This had to be a race for others too. Game on!

Moongate Racing, taken from the name of our running team, and the Redwood Anvil Trail Runs are monster efforts to create and host a premium event in our beloved home park. Culling from our collective 300+ race experiences, and with the help and guidance of our friend and RD mentor, Julie Fingar, we want to deliver the best race experience possible. Come join us and hammer it!!
